“IMARI – Japanese Porcelain for European palaces” now held until Mar 13 at Suntory museum, Tokyo Midtown, Roppongi.
Have you ever heard of IMARI? it is porcelain wares made in the town of Arita in Saga Prefecture, Kyushu area. In 17th century, they were exported to Europe extensively from the IMARI port by the Netherlands East India Company.

There were a great many enthusiastic collectors among the European nobility, especially they competed with others in buying “IMARI” for decollating their palaces.
190 IMARI wares are being shown for the first time in Japan, what did IMARI make allure European nobility, it is worth a visit!!
